The Charlestown Boys Club Promoted Pedophilia at Its Clubhouse

Update April 2026

Given the notorious, decades-long cover-up of child rape by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston that the Club kept secret even from its own Board members, I doubt senior Board member John Fish (CEO, Suffolk Construction) will suddenly start sharing the truth with you. So, allow me to bring you up to date:

I formally appealed to Massachusetts Inspector General Jeffrey Shapiro, asking him to intervene in the prosecutorial misconduct committed by Rachael Rollins—misconduct that Attorney General Andrea Campbell refused to address as well. And the Inspector General declined to act. [Read the IG complaint here.]

Next, I wrote to the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers, requesting a review of Rollins’ ethical violations. In response to that inquiry, Christine P. Deshler, Director of the Attorney and Consumer Assistance Program, claimed that no misconduct occurred—despite the Overseer’s prior public reprimand of Rollins for similar misconduct. And the Office of Bar Counsel, too, refused to intervene. [Read the Bar complaint here.]

With Boston’s legal oversight authorities uniformly failing to act, my only remaining option now is to escalate the issue of child rape at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston further and higher.

In the meantime, I encourage you to read my letters to Boston’s legal oversight authorities to understand the full scope of this institutional betrayal.

The Bunker Hill Indians were a part of the Midget Division, which was supervised by Ed Darragh and was comprised of the smallest and youngest of the Club members. The Bunker Hill Indians dressed up as Indians and performed brief sketches, which were photographed. Initially, the Indians were not supervised by Ed Darragh. Here are some pictures of them before Darragh’s time.

Notice in the photographs above and below, that the children are wearing pants. In other words, they are clothed.

Then Ed Darragh took over. And things changed — dramatically.

In the pool, things were much worse. All the boys were stark naked, except the teenager counselors, of which there were many.

The picture above may have been taken at the South Boston Boys Club, but it was the same thing at the Charlestown Boys Club.

This pictures gives a good idea of just how young some boys were. The boys in the front row would have been assigned to the Midget Division, which was Ed Darragh’s responsibility.
